The studio

My studio is in the parish of St Mary, Jersey in an area called Devil's Hole. The Devil's Hole is a natural feature in the sea cliffs. At high tide the sea rushes in through a tunnel and swirls around in a huge natural hole in the cliff.
The studio has had a varied history dating in parts to the 12th century, there was a priory on the site which was sacked by pirates! The studio and the pub next door are built on the site with the remains. I have a very fine Norman doorway made with Chausey granite and carved with a Fleur de Lys.

Looking east along the cliffs from Col de la Roque towards the Devils Hole on a nice day in January, walking home from the pub.
